CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Passover begins at sundown for those of the Jewish faith around the world.

The holiday celebrates the exodus of the ancient Israelites from their slavery in Egypt.

The specific "passing over" refers to the way in which god passed over, or protected, the homes of the Israelites during the night they prepared to begin their journey into freedom.
