AURORA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A man driving a car in west suburban Aurora Thursday afternoon attempted to abduct two girls, ages 5 and 10, as they walked home from school, police said.
About 2:40 p.m., the two girls were walking home from school in the area of Laurel Drive and Robert Street where they saw a vehicle stopped in the street, a release from Aurora police said. They described the car as a newer, black, Toyota Camry, with an Illinois license plate that began with the number "9."
As they continued to walk, the driver of the car rolled down the passenger side window, and while motioning with his hand, told the 5-year-old to come over to his car. The 10-year-old girl told the man that neither she nor the other girl would come near him and they backed away.
At that point, the driver, described as a white male about 27 years old with a large build, acne on his face, a small mustache, and wearing a black shirt and black hat, pulled the car closer to the curb.
The girls could then see that the man was not wearing any pants, the release said. He then made a sexually explicit comment to them while touching his genitals before driving away eastbound on Robert Street.
Police are asking anyone with information to call investigators at (630) 256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests.
