LAKE ZURICH, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A north suburban man has been charged with a felony count of theft for scamming nearly $17,000 from a person who paid for an RV he advertised on eBay but never provided to the buyer.
Randy Looke is the owner of Sound & Video Consultants, 20866 Rt. 12 in Deer Park, according to the Lake County Sheriff's office. Since 2011 he had been placing advertisements on eBay for a 1997 Forest River Reflection Diesel pusher 38-foot motorhome RV, a release from the sheriff's office said. Looke listed the advertisement under the company name ins.auto.auctions and his name was Andy Lo.
A prospective buyer who lives in Texas won the high bid for $16,700 to purchase the motorhome and sent Looke a check, the sheriff's office said. He never received anything and Looke continued to give him the runaround.
Looke, 44, of the 500 Block of Peach Tree Lane in Lake Zurich was arrested on Wednesday and charged with a Class 2 felony count of theft, the release said.
Looke's bond was set at $10,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on April 18 at 9 a.m.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division is seeking information from anyone who may have purchased anything from Looke, AKA Lo, or through the company ins.auto.auctions. Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Looke's can contact detectives at (847) 377-4152.
