Police: Person fatally struck by Metra train in Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A Metra train fatally struck a pedestrian Tuesday morning in west suburban Downers Grove, police said.
The pedestrian was struck about 9:40 a.m. near the Downers Grove Main Street station by an inbound Burlington North Santa Fe train, according to Metra.
The male pedestrian was fatally struck in the crossing at Forest Avenue, Lieutenant Michael Willison said.
Inbound train No. 1262 is delayed 30 to 40 minutes, according to Metra.
It was the second person struck by a Metra BNSF train in two days. On Monday, Dale Bowling, 42, of Clarendon Hills, was struck and killed in west suburban Hinsdale.
