Decapitated rabbit, chicken carcasses found at North Side park

CHICAGO (Associated Press) -

The decapitated carcasses of a rabbit and several chickens were found early Monday at a park near West Belmont Avenue and North Rockwell Street on the North Side.

The bodies of a large white rabbit and five or six chickens were found before 7 a.m. near the sidewalk and in the wooded area of Clark Playlot Park, in the 3400 block of North Rockwell Street. The majority of the animals were decapitated, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

Chicago Animal Care and Control cleaned up the carcasses and the Chicago Police Department Animal Crimes Unit is investigating. Police ask that if anyone has any information about the animals or what may have happened there to call the Animal Crimes Unit, at (312) 746-7901.
