An 8-year-old boy is recovering from multiple dog bites he received on Saturday after a dog attacked him while playing at an Athens home.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department says the boy was play-fighting with his 11-year-old brother when the dog attacked him at a home on Hidden Lake Drive.

The boy was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where he underwent emergency surgery.

The dog was taken into custody by the Athens-Clarke County Animal Control.
