Naval Station Great Lakes cancels July 4th celebration

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Sequester cuts hit one of the most popular events in the far north suburbs.

Naval Station Great Lakes has canceled their Fourth of July celebration and fireworks.

The two-day event has been around for 100 years and usually attracts 55,000 people.

The navy hopes to bring back the celebration next year if the budget situation improves.
