CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The Chicago Blackhawks extended their record streak to start the season without a regulation loss Wednesday night. The 24 point franchise record stands at 21-0-3, and hawks fever is fervent in the city.
Local hockey enthusiasts are on top of the world right now, and the Blackhawks bandwagon has more room for fans than ever. That means major money for Hawks merchandise vendors in Chicago.
Just a couple of months ago it looked like the season was a loss because of a lockout, but it was resurrected when the Blackhawks came blazing out of the gate – and they have not looked back. The team has achieved one thrilling victory after another. It's almost impossible to get a ticket at a modest price, and the Madhouse on Madison is at capacity with excited fans for almost every home game.
Hats, jerseys, tee shirts and more are flying off the shelves, as they were before and after the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2010.
Fans are also getting creative in the ways they pay tribute to the Hawks, especially after the snow storms hitting the area. One super-fan sculpted the head of the team's mascot out of snow in Westmont, and it looks great!
