Tripp Halstead's brain infection is gone

Posted: Updated:

Tripp Halstead's brain infection is gone, according to a post on his Facebook page.

The toddler had an unexpected surgery this week to remove a shunt that doctors feared might have  had bacteria on it.

The post says doctors will monitor Tripp's brain fluid for the next several days before putting in a new shunt.

Tripp was critically injured when a large tree branch fell on his head in October.
