Crews rescue dog from 40 foot well in SW Atlanta

ATLANTA -

Crews rescued a dog that fell down a 40 well on Boulder Park Drive in southwest Atlanta on Thursday.

SKYFOX 5 was over the scene in southwest Atlanta when Squad 4 jumped into action to save Roscoe. His owner, who asked not to be named, says he let his white pit bull off his chain on Wednesday and he didn't come back.

He heard Roscoe whimpering from the depths of an abandoned well next door and called firefighters, who used ladders and ropes to get a hold of the dog and pull him to the surface.

Roscoe emerged from the well almost as if nothing had happened, prancing happily on his leash while his owner welcomed him back to the land of the living.

Fire crews carefully covered the well to prevent a repeat performance and surrounded the scene with police tape, while Roscoe assumed his position guarding the driveway with enthusiasm.
