Drivers likely to face wet commute Friday morning

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Drivers in the metro Atlanta area could face a wet commute on Friday morning.

FOX 5 Storm Team chief meteorologist Ken Cook said there's an 80 percent chance that the storms which rolled through the area late Thursday will still be around for the morning rush hour traffic.

Forecasts indicate that the rain will get heavy, then move away before returning on Friday and continuing into Saturday.

A Flood Watch has been posted for portions of north Georgia into central Georgia beginning Friday afternoon.

The flood watch
will be in effect through Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Ken says rainfall amounts from Thursday evening into early Saturday will average 1"-2" near Atlanta, only 1"-2" in the northern suburbs through the mountains, and higher 2"-4" amounts south of Interstate 20 in middle Georgia.
