Tripp Halstead's mother says he's recovering after another unexpected surgery on Tuesday. The 2-year-old's doctors operated on him again, this time to remove and replace an external shunt after he recently developed bacterial meningitis.
In several posts on his Facebook page Tuesday night, Tripp's mom Stacy says he's out of surgery and doing fairly well. His once-high heart rate is down, and he's breathing on his own. She posted a photo of him resting peacefully. Meanwhile, his family continues to ask for prayers.
Tripp suffered severe brain injuries in October when a tree limb fell on him outside his Winder day care center.
It's not yet clear when Tripp will be out of intensive care, or how long the bacteria he has developed will persist in his body.
