Police: Collection jar for cancer patient stolen

Posted: Updated:

GLEN CARBON, Ill. (AP) - Investigators in southwestern Illinois are trying to find the person who stole a restaurant's countertop jar that was accepting donations for a cancer patient.

Police in Glen Carbon say the theft happened Monday at an International House of Pancakes restaurant in Glen Carbon, just northeast of St. Louis.

It isn't clear how much money was in the jar. Workers at the restaurant were trying to raise money to help a colleague with breast cancer who isn't able to work because of treatments.
