CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Another round of speculation about Mayor Emanuel running for President was triggered last week by a longtime gossip writer.
His report claiming that Emanuel has discussed a possible White House bid with several big contributors was treated seriously, even though the mayor has a standard response to questions about such ambitions. "Typical" was what he told us at last summer's Democratic National Convention. Emanuel said he loves being mayor and would never run for president.
"Never!" is a long time. Barack Obama denied that he was going to run right up until he began recruiting campaign staffers and forming a Presidential exploratory committee.
No one who knows Rahm Emanuel doubts for a moment that he does dream of one day overseeing the White House where he's worked for two Commanders in Chief. And, if for example, frontrunner Hillary Clinton were to decide not to run in 2016, I'll betcha dollars to donuts Rahm will be in there exploring all the possibilities.
