PEMBROKE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in Bryan County say a 5-year-old has died after stepping off a school bus and being hit by a truck.
The Savannah Morning News reports (http://bit.ly/14Xw6ir) that the accident happened Thursday afternoon, just outside of Pembroke.
Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith says the child was leaving the school bus around 4 p.m. on Georgia Highway 119 near the intersection of Wildwood Church Road. The unidentified child was hospitalized with serious head injuries and later died.
Smith says the Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
