The Home Depot to Hire 1,500 In Detroit Area for Busy Spring Season

The Home Depot stores in Detroit are expected to hire 1,500 people to kick off the spring season. In preparation for its busiest selling season, The Home Depot announced it plans to hire 80,000 seasonal workers across the country, a 14 percent increase in seasonal hires from last year. More than half of the 70,000 spring hires in 2012 were given permanent positions at the company.

Hiring 80,000 Seasonal Associates Nationwide 

What:  It may feel like winter across most of the U.S., but The Home Depot is already preparing for its busy spring selling season – and that means 1,500 local jobs.  If you're interested, now is the time to apply.

And, you might just be surprised how many of those seasonal jobs at The Home Depot can turn into permanent positions. In fact, about half of The Home Depot's seasonal hires transitioned into regular positions with the company last year.

For those returning military and veterans who are interested in a position, The Home Depot recently launched its Online Military Skills Translator to help match unique military skills with positions within the company. Both the skills translator and a calendar of military hiring events can be found at www.careers.homedepot.com/military.

Seasonal associates will be assigned responsibilities based on their previous retail or home improvement experience and based on the needs of individual stores.
