CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The 2013 Chicago Auto Show begins at McCormick Place this weekend. Lauren Fix, "The Car Coach," gave Good Day Chicago residents a preview Thursday morning.
Cars are becoming more family friendly these days, but in a more modern way. For example, some of the newest Ford models give parents the ability to set a top speed for young drivers only using the vehicle to drive to and from school.
The Ford Edge, Focus and Flex also allow you to turn your car into a phone or mobile device, allowing you to make calls or send texts without taking your eyes off the road. Some other vehicles featured at the auto show can even act as communication hot spots, where up to nine devices can be connected at once. There are also features in some cars that use geo-location to see what's available around you when it comes to gas, food, or shopping.
Fix also said that when it comes to purchasing power in families when it comes to cars, women make 85% of the buying and maintenance decisions, have 95% purchasing power and own 60% of the vehicles on the road. They definitely power of the purse in this circumstance.
