A panicked father had to deliver his own baby in the parking lot of a gas station. The only help he had was a 911 operator on the phone.
Brandon Favia already has a 3 year old. He told FOX 5's Denise Dillion that if he had not already experienced the birth of one child, he definitely would have passed out from the experience. As it was, he admits he was scared and feels blessed that his wife and their new baby are healthy.
There was no time to wait as Christy Favia was going into labor. She, her husband Brandon and their 3 year old all jumped into their family's SUV to go to the hospital, but only made it two miles down the road.
They called 911 and the operator told them to pull into a nearby Shell Station and wait for paramedics.
The ambulance was on the way to meet the family, but the baby had no plans to wait. So, it was up to Brandon and a 911 operator to deliver this baby.
The call was caught on tape by the 911 center. The call caught Brandon's wife screaming as the 911 operator calmly talked him through the delivery.
Brandon said he was panicked, but followed the instruction being given out by the operator and in minutes he was a father again. Seconds later, the ambulance pulled up to take care of Christy and their new baby.
Favia sends a big thank out to the 911 operator Amanda Weathers. They joke that other family members have already nicknamed their newborn "Shell."
