A man from Naperville's far south side faces a potential 30-year prison term, after being arrested and charged with downloading child pornography from the Internet in his home.
Bail was set Thursday at $1 million for Mitchell J. Brady, 50. He remained Thursday evening in Will County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Brady lives on the 1300 block of Windemere Avenue, in the Brook Crossing area of Naperville. He faces trial on six Class X felony charges of child pornography involving a person, animal or victim under the age of 13, according to Will County Circuit Court records.
Members of the Naperville Police Department's High Technology Crimes Unit had Brady under investigation for two months, after developing information he was involved in the possession and distribution of child pornography.
Police Sgt. Lou Cammiso said members of the high tech crimes unit and Special Operations Group about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday used a warrant to search Brady's house.
"Upon locating videos and images of children under the age of 13 engaged in sexual conduct, Mitchell Brady was taken into custody" and charged with child pornography, Cammiso said Thursday in a release. He was subsequently taken to jail.
Cammiso's statement did not indicate how many allegedly pornographic images and videos were confiscated from Brady's home.
An examination of court documents revealed Brady has received myriad traffic citations in Will County and DuPage County, but has no criminal record.
A Class X felony carries a mandatory sentence of six to 30 years in prison upon conviction. Brady's arraignment date is set for Feb. 26.
