CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -

Cartersville police say they have charged an 18-year-old man on child abuse charges.

They say a 6-week-old infant was taken to the emergency room at Cartersville Medical Center on Wednesday. She had a knot on her head, but further examination revealed the infant had broken ribs, a fractured skull, and two left leg bones broken.

After questioning several people, police say they arrested 18-year-old Dustin Michael Lewis of Cartersville. He faces charges of cruelty to children and aggravated battery. Lewis is being held in the Bartow County Jail.

Police say they are continuing their investigation.
