Is there a football game on this weekend or something? Time Out Chicago's Marissa Conrad tells you where to watch the Super Bowl, what to do beforehand and how else to fill your weekend.
Friday
Hours vary, lunch $22, dinner $33–$44. The citywide event, kicking off today, is a good opportunity to have a fancy sit-down meal at an old-school steakhouse or trendy new resto. From Fri 1 until Feb 10, more than 200 area restaurants have marked down their lunch and dinner prices. Reservations recommended. Friday
If all goes according to plan, this may be one of those rare orderly fan fests. In a 30-minute skate and a 30-minute autograph session, glide on a temporary rink atop the Bears' home turf and chat with big-name Blackhawks alums and current ambassadors including Bobby Hull, Brian Noonan, Peter Marsh, Reid Simpson, Tony Esposito and a half dozen others. The sports greats will available in two time slots: from 7:30–9pm and 8–9:30pm. Net proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Sunday
The Super Bowl doesn't kick off until 5:30pm, leaving participants plenty of time to go home and start tailgating. Runners show pigskin spirit and represent in your favorite team jersey. Proceeds benefit Homes 4 Heroes, a nonprofit organization that donates services at no charge to allow wounded veterans to properly access and use their homes. Sunday
With more than 70 flat-screen TVs, there isn't a bad seat in the house to watch the big game, the halftime show and all the commercials, which by the way, will be shown with audio.
