A Gordon County man says his teenage daughter saved him after he got trapped in his own home during Wednesday's storm.
Terry Hampton said he was walking up the stairs in his home and holding his 22-month-old foster child when he felt the walls collapsing around him. He said his 14-year-old daughter sprang into action.
"I was trapped. When I went down, my leg got up under the steps and it just kind of -- everything was coming down on it, and I just couldn't move," Hampton said.
He said the small child to his teenage daughter and told her to go outside and get help. He said that somehow his daughters were able to make it out of the house through a hole.
"I was scared when I was laying there and when you start to wonder, ‘Are they going to get me free before this house falls on my head,'" he said.
Terry and his wife returned to the home on Thursday to meet with insurance adjustors and try to salvage whatever they could.
