CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The happier you are in marriage, the more likely you may be to gain some extra weight.
Researchers studied more than 150 young couples all married in the past six months and followed them for four years. They found the more satisfied the couples were with their union, the more likely they were to put on pounds since their wedding day. The less-satisfied spouses tended to gain less weight.
The team notes the findings held true even after compensating for factors such as pregnancy--and while researchers found an association between a happy marriage and a heavier person, they did not prove being happy in marriage causes you to gain weight.
They did not prove that being happy in marriage causes you to gain weight.
The findings were presented at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology annual meeting in New Orleans.
