Fear of ban draws crowd to Marietta area gun show

Posted: Updated:

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - A gun show outside Marietta drew a large crowd. Dealers and attendees attributed the crowd to fear that assault-style weapons like the AK-47 and AR-15 will soon be banned along with some magazines.

Nicholas Denington, a 27-year-old Army veteran, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he came to Saturday's show at Jim Miller Park looking for a profit on an AK-47. He said he paid $330 for the gun in 2006 and was asking $1,000 for it.

Denington and others at the show said President Obama's talk about the need for some sort of legislative action after a shooting at a Connecticut school last month has driven up gun prices.

Rafael Gonzalez of On the Square Guns in McDonough said the line at Saturday's gun show was "out the door."
