This is a cold case that the FBI would really like to solve, but because so many years have gone by, they are now reaching out for the public's help in trying to track down Alex Aguilar.
Alex Aguilar was charged with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Maria Tybor, an 18-year-old Chicago woman gunned down January 13, 1991. She was shot in the head and left for dead in a snowy alley behind the 1400 block of West 49th Place.
Aguilar was said to be a reputed member of the LaRaza street gang. The FBI believes he killed Tybor because of her association with a rival gang. In addition, Aguilar may have believed Tybor introduced his girlfriend -- the mother of his child -- to members of that rival gang while Aguilar was locked up.
Five days after Tybor's murder, Cook County prosecutors charged Aguilar with the murder, but he was never arrested.
Aguilar is believed to have fled to Mexico. In November 1994 a Federal warrant was issued for his arrest, charging him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
There have been no recent sightings, but Aguilar has family and gang ties to the area, so there is a chance that he may have returned to the Chicago area. The FBI hopes someone hearing about the murder and seeing the pictures of Aguilar may have information about his current location and will come forward with that information.

--He has also gone by the name Alejandro Aguilar or the nickname "Chico"
--Last known address was in the 4900 block of South Justine
He is considered armed and dangerous, if you see him call police.
