High pressure will build in on Monday bringing a return of sunshine, but the cold air will remain in place with highs only in the low to mid 20s and a wind chill near zero at times.
By Wednesday we warm to the freezing mark and a fast moving clipper system may deliver some light snow showers in the morning. The remainder of the week will be quiet.
The coldest air of the season will start to slide into Chicago next Sunday.
