Marketing company 'Loclly' continues to receive complaints

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Getting a great discount offer is not a deal if you can't get what you paid for, and that seems to be the case with a Buckhead marketing company called Loclly.

It appears the complaints keep in coming about the company.

John Walraven is like many of us. Between working and raising a family, there's little time for anything else, like getting rid of leaves in the yard.

When a discount offer for leaf removal popped into his inbox, he was happy to not just buy one deal, but two. The offer came from Loclly, an Atlanta marketing company that sells discount vouchers on services like a massage or an oil change, or, in Walraven's case - leaf clean-up by a company called Mario's Lawn Care.

His October receipt shows he paid $98 for two vouchers, but they never came to clean up the leaves.

"We were really counting on having a company come in and remove the leaves to preserve the sod for the spring," said Walraven.

He dialed up the lawn company, and he says they never called back. The I-Team tried calling them, and they did not receive an answer. So the I-Team went to the address given for the business, but only found a rundown apartment building.

Walraven was forced to go back to Loclly, but that wasn't easy either.  The web site has no contact number, so he had to send an email.

He had no luck with the email. Loclly did not respond.

It was not the customer service he was expecting. According to the Better Business Bureau he's not alone in that.  The Better Business Bureau yanked Loclly's accreditation in September, and since then complaints keep rolling in -- most of them about not getting service.  But Walraven, had one more trick up his sleeve.

Walraven says he got a response "after I served a demand letter upon them telling them they were going to get sued in the city of Atlanta's small claims court."

Walraven is a lawyer. He became his own client, and made clear "we want our money back."  And just like that, he says, it was done.  There were no questions asked.

He added a second job to his resume, the family leaf collector. "After I spent 25 hours with a backpack blower and down this hill you might see behind me, I just decided I didn't need their help anymore," said Walraven.

But, the I-Team's questions to Loclly continue to go unanswered.

According to the BBB, Michael Ferguson is a co-owner of Loclly but they also connect him to another company, Sky Wash Detail Lube. They say Ferguson is the owner of that business too.  It is not accredited and also has a "F" rating.
