GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Officials in a northeast Georgia county want to change the name of a road to help drive tourists to the Lake Lanier Islands resort area.
If the plan is approved, Friendship Road would become Lanier Islands Parkway.
The Times of Gainesville reports (http://bit.ly/VcZyx7) that the Hall County Planning Commission is set to consider the matter at its Jan. 22 meeting.
Hall County spokeswoman Katie Crumley says officials want to drive tourists to the Lake Lanier Islands resort since it's an economic engine and brings tax money to the county. She said the name change would spur more visits to Lake Lanier Islands.
