Seasonal Girl Scout cookies return

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Area Girl Scouts are taking orders for Girl Scout Cookies now through the end of January.

Beginning in mid-February and through March, the girls will set up booth sites in front of local businesses and public buildings in local communities to sell eight varieties of cookies: The Savannah Smile, Thank U Berry Munch, Samoas, Thin Mints, Trefoils, Tagalongs, Do-si-does, and Dulce de Leche.

Girls from Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana and Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois participate in this financial literacy and entrepreneurship program each year to learn about business, support their activities and develop skills in five important areas: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.

Proceeds benefit girls in two ways with a portion going to the local troop and the remaining portion helping fund council programs, activities, volunteer support and training, and the development of resources that support local leadership activities for girls ages 5 – 17.

To find cookies in your community or near your workplace, visit www.girlscoutcookies.org and type in your zip code.
