New requirements, retiring pilots may lead to pilot shortage

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Aviation analysts say new rules requiring extra training and more rest could lead to a pilot shortage for U.S. Airlines.

A wave of commercial pilots is nearing the federally mandated retirement age of 65. That comes as these new laws start in August.

If a shortage happens, analysts say large airlines will likely hire available candidates, leaving regional carriers scrambling to find help.
