CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Illinois football coach Tim Beckman says he has fired co-offensive coordinator Chris Beatty.
Beatty spent one season at Illinois with first-year head coach Tim Beckman.
The team struggled to a 2-10 finish and offensively was among the worst in the Big Ten. The Illini were last in points per game at 16.7 and last in total offense at 296.7 yards a game.
Beatty came to Illinois from Vanderbilt and split the coordinator duties with Billy Gonzales. Beatty was also quarterbacks coach.
Beckman talked after the season ended about potential changes but Beatty is so far the only assistant coach to lose his job.
Beckman said Saturday the team will start a national search for a new offensive coordinator.
