CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
One more thing, about the reopening of the Aurora, Colorado movie theatre that's been closed since a mass shooting in July.
Cinemark Theatres e-mailed invitations to families of the victims inviting them to the reopening on January 17th, calling it "a special evening of remembrance." What nitwit came up with this idea?
I don't think there's anything wrong with the theatre getting back in business; moving on, returning to some degree of normalcy, is part of the healing process. But inviting the families of victims and turning it into a promotional event complete with grief counselors on hand is, as the mother of one of the shooting victims said, "a thoughtless, insulting gesture."
Some of the families are organizing a boycott of the reopening.
What the theatre should have done was announce that as part of the reopening some of the money from movie ticket sales would go to the families of the shooting victims. They could have avoided the controversy with a nice gesture that's also good public relations.

Over the weekend, the Tom Cruise sci-fi thriller "Oblivion" was number one at the box office. But the movie I'm talking about wasn't even in the top ten.
