A man allegedly dragged by a Blue Line train when his arm became trapped in a subway car door filed a lawsuit Thursday against the CTA.
Tyron Hampton was changing cars at the Blue Line Austin Avenue station in December 2011 when his arm became trapped in the train door and he was dragged by the train, according to the suit filed in Cook County Circuit Court.
The suit claims as Hampton was getting in the subway car, the doors closed "without notice or announcement," trapping his right arm inside the car and the rest of his body outside the car.
Hampton was dragged along the train until he could free his arm, then he fell to the platform and injured his knee, the suit claims.
The conductor failed to look out the window and see Hampton was trapped, the suit claims. Hampton tried to shout for help and get someone's attention but was unable to, according to the suit.
A CTA spokesman said he was unable to comment on pending litigation.
