Re-gifting holiday presents and spoiled kids on Twitter: Chat Room

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

On Thursday's Chat Room, consultant Rochelle Trotter and Sun-Times Splash editor Susanna Negovan talked about holiday gift protocol and spoiled kids.

First, with estimates that more than 30 percent of gifts are being returned this week, what are the rules on re-gifting?

Rochelle says a minimum of two degrees of separation, so there's no chance that the gift-ee will ever talk to the original gift-er. Susanna says as long as you acknowledge it's a re-gift - so that you're not busted when the recipient tries to return it - it's okay to do.

Next, the hashtag #spoiledkids made it's way on social media as kids complained on Twitter that they got the wrong color iPad or didn't find what they wanted under the tree.

Rochelle says she longs for the days when she would circle gifts in the Sears catalog and be happy to get just one thing. Susanna says that in the old days, only a parent knew that a kid was disappointed - now it goes across the Twitterverse.
