Last-minute holiday shoppers flock to stores

ATLANTA -

If you still haven't finished your holiday shopping, you are not alone. Stores were packed with people scrambling to find the perfect last-minute gift on Monday.

Shoppers filled Lennox Square Mall to scratch off the final gifts on Christmas wish lists.

"I think people are kind of busy just enjoying the season with their family ahead of time or their friends, and then it's the day before and then they're like, ‘I still have a lot of things on my list to buy,'" said Chenier Taylor.

Huge crowds visiting a Target store in northeast Atlanta were not just expected, but welcomed by some who love the hustle and bustle.

"I really like going out when all of the crowds are out. Everybody's happy and festive.  It makes it feel like Christmas. Last minute shopping and all that is no big deal to me.  I love it like this," said last-minute shopper Jerry White.

Man credited the quality of bargains, saying merchandise at up to 50 percent off was too much to pass up.

"It was a little more crowded that I thought it was going to be this early in the day, and the prices look good --  like they went down a little bit," said last-minute shopper Gordon Rose.

Last-minute shoppers tell FOX 5 that they are holding off until the very last minute to purchase items when retailers lower prices as they try to move merchandise out by Christmas.

Retailers are waiting to see if the last-minute crowds translated into sales.
