CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A teenager who died two days after he was shot in the head on the West Side was killed by a friend playing with a gun, according to police.
Kentan Scott, 15, was in his home in the 4800 block of West Quincy Street about 8 p.m. Thursday when he was shot in the head, authorities said.
Scott's friend was playing with a gun when it discharged, striking Scott in the head, police said. Scott was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died Saturday at 9:53 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Lewis is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, a class 4 felony, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Lewis is being held on $300,000 bail, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. He is next scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
During a preliminary investigation, police said it appeared Scott had accidentally shot himself. As the investigation went on, detectives determines Scott's friend Darius Lewis was in the room and was the one who discharged the firearm, police said.
