The weekend before Christmas saw three men dead and at least six people wounded in separate shootings since Friday night, authorities said.
The latest fatal shooting happened about 5:19 a.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of West Crystal Street in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, where Cintrail Williams, 23, was found dead in a car, authorities said. Williams, of the 200 block of South Sacramento Boulevard, was shot multiple times, authorities said.
About 5:07 a.m. Sunday, a 35-year-old man was shot dead in the 3500 block of West Lake Street, authorities said. The man—identified as Chad Carrasco, of the 12500 block of South Harvard Avenue—was shot in the head, authorities said. Detectives have labeled the shooting as a possible homicide, police said.
About 2:15 a.m. Sunday, a man from Hammond, Indiana was shot in the back of the head while he sat in the backseat of a car in the 2700 block of East 84th Street, police said. The other passengers heard gunfire, authorities said, and found the back window shattered and Hakeem Walton, 20, shot. The driver took Walton to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where Walton later died.
Among the six people injured in non-fatal shootings were a man and a woman shot outside a pizzeria in Pilsen early Sunday, police said. The duo was outside the pizzeria in the 1200 block of West 18th Street about 12:20 a.m. when shots were fired, police said. A 23-year-old woman was shot in the face and listed in critical condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said. The man was in good condition at Stroger, police said.
