CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A woman died and a man was injured after their car crashed on the Kennedy Expressway on the Northwest Side early Sunday, authorities said.

Agnieszka Firosz, 25, was driving a 1999 Honda Accord when she lost control and crash about 2:21 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the Kennedy Expressway near the Harlem Avenue exit, authorities said. Firosz, of the 5600 block of West Cullom Avenue, was taken to Resurrection Medical Center, where she died, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

A 24-year-old man who was a passenger in the car was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, said Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Alan Ulcigrai.

The car was allegedly speeding when it drove off the expressway and hit crash barrels near the Harlem exit, Ulcigrai said, adding that the vehicle then stopped on the right shoulder.

The driver and the man were wearing seat belts, Ulcigrai said. Investigators have ruled out weather conditions as a factor in the crash, Ulcigrai said.

An autopsy for Firosz is scheduled for Monday.
