CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The season of giving is in full swing, and one Chicago Heights church was very busy Thursday.
The Greater Faith Baptist Church is in the middle of its Big Give 2012 outreach, and Good Day Chicago stopped by to see exactly how they're helping those in need this holiday season.
Executive Director Rev. Walter L. Mosby explained that on Thanksgiving, the church held a big dinner for the community and especially those in need. Attendees asked what they had planned for Christmas.
Mosby said they decided to hold their Big Give outreach program for the holiday, collecting donations ranging from food to supplies, clothes to toys.
Community activist and former Northwestern football star Napoleon Harris was on hand THursday to help organize donations and drop off a few of his own. He saw a post about the Big Give on Facebook and decided to get involved.
Here's how you can get involved: To make a financial contribution, visit Greater Faith's Big Give 2012 web page. To drop off donations, visit the church at 1417 Emerald Ave. in Chicago Heights.
They'll be giving the food, coats, supplies and toys to those in need Thursday and Friday.
And really, a toy is what every child wants - and deserves - for Christmas, right? It's a magical time.
