CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago police are looking for the man who sexually assaulted a woman in her 50's, near the Morse CTA Red Line station, as Guardian Angels walked women from the street to the train Thursday morning.

The Guardian Angels also handed out fliers with the suspect's description to commuters.

Police said the man grabbed the woman just before 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of West Lunt, and also stole her purse.

Another woman, who did not want to be identified, stumbled upon the victim while she was walking her dog. She saw the victim standing in a construction site underneath the CTA's Morse station-- she was naked and had a busted lip.

"I just saw that she didn't have on anything but a scarf and I'm like 'Oh, my God, what happened to you?'" the woman says.

The victim reported that she was walking to catch the red line headed to work when a man grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

A construction worker reportedly heard her calls for help and called authorities.

"A construction guy, he ran over to his truck and grabbed his phone, and called 911," the witness explained.

The woman says she stayed with the victim until police arrived. He was last seen running south on Glenwood.

The crime happened in a busy area near Loyola University and was not sitting well with some Rogers Park residents.

"I am in utter shock, I mean, I know this probably isn't the not best neighborhood, but I figured being this close to lake, you know, when you're on the North Side, I mean, I guess you hear of stuff like that everywhere, but it's really scary," says Katie Metz.

"You can not really feel safe anywhere, so I would say this could happen any place," says Andrei Halavaty.

The woman was taken to the hospital.

At a press conference Wednesday night, police released photos of a person of interest they describe as a black male 6' tall with a medium build, around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Detectives believe this man may have been on the red line some time between 11 p.m. Tuesday night and 5:30 a.m. leading up to this attack. They also believe he was on the train after the attack.
