A Chicago Ridge man wanted for allegedly stabbing his brothers-in-law Saturday during a fight in an Oak Lawn hospital parking lot was arrested in Michigan.
Kamal Yasin was arrested Sunday at an apartment in Dearborn, Mich., after police tracked his Mercedes to the building's parking lot, according to a release from Oak Lawn police.
He was charged with one count of aggravated battery, the release said. An arrest warrant issued for Yasin, who lives on West 103rd Street in Chicago Ridge, set bond at $50,000.
At about 11:35 p.m. Saturday, Oak Lawn police responded to a 911 call of multiple people fighting in a parking lot just east of the Advocate Christ Medical Center Emergency Department, at 94th Street and Kilbourn Avenue in the southwest suburb.
Officers followed a blood trail to the emergency department where they learned two brothers were being treated for knife wounds, a release form police said. The first of the two, a 30-year-old from Burbank, was stabbed in the head and torso. The other victim, a 20-year-old from Chicago Ridge, was stabbed in the face and back. Both remained hospitalized Sunday at Christ Hospital in serious condition.
Police learned that the incident started earlier at a family member's home in Chicago Ridge. Yasin allegedly followed both brothers to the hospital parking lot, where they had gone to check on a relative unrelated to this event.
He allegedly attacked both brothers in the parking lot, police said. He then fled in a 1996 red Mercedes Benz, with an Illinois license plate of H711555.
Yasin is scheduled to appear before of a Michigan judge Tuesday for an extradition hearing, the release said.
