Crime Stopper’s fighting crime in Michigan

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

Crime Stoppers has made huge strides towards reducing crime in Michigan. This year the tips increased by 44% to 5,900 and a record number of felony arrests were made. In 2013, the tips are expected to increase by another 19% to just less than 7,000.

Crime Stoppers promises absolute anonymity to their tipsters. For example:

-         Their call center is in Canada; it is not local.

-         No caller ID is used.

-         Crime Stoppers employees never ask for name, gender, or contact information.

-         No one knows the identity – not even police.

Crime Stoppers also offers rewards to those who turn in tips that lead to an arrest. Great care is taken to make sure the identity of the reward recipient is also kept anonymous. The rewards are funded primarily by memberships and donations as well as an annual recognition dinner each fall.

To reach Crime Stoppers, call 1-800-SPEAK-UP (773-2587).

It's not just the styles that have changed with weddings over the years -- it's also the technology. Disposable cameras used to be the norm, but now there's an even simpler way for the bride and groom to get some candid photos of their special day.
