on Thursday and have been bound over for trial on carjacking and armed
robbery charges.
Amiri Naylor and Derrius Simmons, both of Detroit have
been charged in connection with the carjacking and armed robbery of an
80-year old woman and her 79-year-old brother back in October.
Detroit police say the female victim was standing outside of her vehicle in the 11700 block of St. Patrick with her brother when they were approached by Naylor and Simmons, both 18-years old. Investigators say the men pointed a gun at the woman, demanded her vehicle and then took off with the male victim, who suffers from dementia, still seated in the car.
The suspects picked up two other women in the area of Whithorn and Drifton and after driving a short distance away pushed the male victim out of the car. Officers later found the 79-year-old victim, unharmed, in the area of E. McNichols and Gunston.
The men were arrested following a brief police pursuit in the 11800 block of Flanders. 21-year old Charelle Smith was also arrested and faces charges of Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of Personal Identifying Information with Intent to Commit ID Theft.
All three will be back in court on December 20.
