CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

One more thing, about 12-12-12.

It's considered a lucky day, which is why more than 9,000 couples in the United States got married today. Some even did it at 12:12. Of course, getting married on a Wednesday is cheaper than doing it on the weekend.

The number 12 has always been significant: 12 months in a year, the 12 days of Christmas, 12-step programs. But today, filmmakers from all over the world have been shooting scenes for a documentary called "One Day on Earth." In Japan, people prayed for peace at an event called a "light meeting."

In India, mothers lined up to have cesarean sections or induce labor. And Wisconsin declared 12/12/12 as "Aaron Rodgers Day" in honor of the Green Bay Packers quarterback, whose number is 12.

Of course, according to the Mayan calendar, doomsday is coming on the backwards 12 day, Dec. 21.

So to all the newlyweds today: enjoy your ten day marriages. And just in case, don't bother paying any bills until the 22nd.
