LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -
Workers from across the country ascended to Lansing, Michigan to protest Michigan's Right to Work bill.
In the end, after all the chanting, sign holding, marching and singing two bills were passed in Michigan's State House and Senate.
Governor Snyder says he will sign the legislation as soon as it makes his desk. Fox 2's Tim Skubick says this should happen by the end of the week.
Many unions and union workers say the bills are nothing more than union busting. Joe from Ferndale, a AFSCME member says "the bills are in retaliation to the Proposal 2 being place on November's general election ballot. Prop 2 would have legislated a more permanent right to collective bargaining. It failed, but Republicans may have viewed this as a shot across the bow of business owners.
And so the GOP majority state legislature along with the GOP Governor Rick Snyder moved ahead with making Michigan the 24th state to become a 'right to work' state.
The next step for protestors is to ask for a Snyder to veto the bill. Snyder says he will sign, in spite of the protests.
