Pranking DJs receive death threats, legalization of marijuana: Chat Room

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

On Monday's Chat Room, consultant Rochelle Trotter and Sun-Times Splash editor Susanna Negovan discussed the consequences of pranking and legalizing pot in America.

One of the nurses pranked by two Australian DJs committed suicide on Monday, and now the DJs are receiving death threats. Should they be blamed for her death?

Susanna said that since the duo is no longer on the air, the radio station has lost advertisers and the station has said that it will no longer allow prank calls, she feels that those sanctions are enough. Rochelle said that she is surprised by overreactions, because she feels that the nurse's suicide was her own choice and indicates much more was going on than just the phone call.

Recreational marijuana is now legal in Colorado and Washington state (plus medical marijuana is legal in 19 states). So, is it time to legalize marijuana in America?

Rochelle said that just because people claim it isn't as bad as alcohol, drug use still has serious consequences - and she does not want to see it legalized. Susanna said with nearly half of the country allowing for some form of legalized marijuana use, there appears to be a cultural shift and lawmakers should acknowledge it.
