The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office presented Nathan Geyer with the “Good Samaritan Award.”
A Paulding County man was honored by the sheriff after turning over $1,900 that he found in a satchel in his front yard.
Madison White was going out of town last summer on vacation with her boyfriend when he accidentally left her satchel on the roof of their car.
They drove off, and went several minutes down the road before the satchel finally fell off the car and into the yard of Nathan Geyer. It contained, among other things, $1,900 in cash.
Geyer was nice enough to call police and turn the satchel over.
For his actions, the 20-year-old man was awarded earlier this week by the Paulding County Sheriff's Office with the "Good Samaritan Award." White says finding that money came at the perfect time.
"I thought it was incredible. Right when I heard I, I cried …Me and my boyfriend is getting a house, so we had just found out we had a house and two days before, oh, my gosh, wouldn't that be awesome if we found that money," White said.
It happened to rain the night that White lost her satchel and much of her personal information was washed away. But through the work of Paulding detectives, they were able to find White about two weeks ago -- six months after her satchel was lost.
