A 26-year-old man who is a documented gang member has been charged with murder for the April shooting death of a 23-year-old man in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood.
The 23-year-old victim, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Darryl Davidson, was shot twice in the chest about 1:45 a.m. on April 15 in the 1300 block of South Springfield Avenue, police said.
Davidson, of the 300 block of North Pine Avenue, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 2:27 a.m.
On Thursday, police said 26-year-old Dandre Lofton of the 3700 block of West Polk Street was charged with one count of first degree murder, two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, and had an outstanding warrant for murder.
Lofton, who police said is a documented gang member, is scheduled for a bond hearing Thursday.
