CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

There's concern in Oak Park after an 8th grade girl was grabbed on her way to school Wednesday.

The student was able to break free and run away. The attacker then proceeded to get into a vehicle and left the scene.

Brooks Middle School 6th grader Nicolas Rosa is now on alert after his schoolmate was nearly abducted on her walk to school this morning.

"We heard there was an attempted kidnapping somewhere around Oak Park this morning and we got really freaked out about it," Rosa says.

The 13-year-old girl flagged down a driver who called 911 and gave police a good description.

Oak Park Elementary School District 97 spokesman Chris Jasculca says a half hour before, there was a similar attempted kidnapping involving a A 16-year-old Oak Park and River Forest High School student who got away by biting the suspect's hand.

By 9 a.m., Oak Park police had caught up with their person of interest.

School officials notified parents about the incidents and urged that they teach their children vigilance.
