Police are warning business owners about two men who have held up at least four CVS drug stores at gunpoint since September, demanding bus passes, cigarettes and cash.

The robberies happened in the Gage Park, West Lawn and Ashburn neighborhoods on the Southwest Side, as well as the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

In each case, the two robbers have displayed handguns before taking cigarettes and bus passes from the counters and taking cash from the registers, Area Central detectives. said in a business alert.

On Sept. 6, they allegedly robbed a CVS in the 5300 block of South Western Avenue about 12:25 p.m. They struck again at a store in the 3900 block of West 63rd Street about 10:55 a.m. on Oct. 26.

They also robbed a store in the 3500 block of West Grand Avenue about 12:24 p.m. on Nov. 9. The most recent robbery happened in the 7800 block of South Western Avenue Nov. 28, about 12:45 p.m.

They are described as two black men, between 25 and 50 years old, the alert said. They stand between 5-foot-3 and 6-feet tall, and weigh between 135 and 200 pounds.

Police are asking businesses owners to make sure their surveillance cameras are in working order, and to request contact information from anyone who may have seen any of the robberies.
